SEEKING VOLUNTEER BOARD MEMBERS
Independent Living Services Simcoe County (ILS) is looking for volunteer Board Members to join our team of dedicated people working to build and strengthen communities in Simcoe County. ILS is a non-profit organization that works to help people remain active members of their communities and thrive as independent individuals in their own homes. We provide individualized support for people with disabilities and seniors to promote independent living and create real relationships.
Working with our team, you will:
- Oversee the governance of the agency and ensure that ILS achieves outcomes consistent with our Mission and Vision in accordance with our mandate and strategic plan
- Ensure ILS operates in a fiscally sound and prudent manner
- Lead/participate in a committee or subcommittee
- Contribute to a positive board culture of teamwork, communications, learning/growth and results
- Be an avid proponent of ILS’s success, and inform others about ILS, its Mission, Vision and
programs
Skills and Qualifications:
We have identified that our Board would benefit from one or more of the following:
- Persons with lived experience who have volunteer or work experience in the healthcare sector and/or community support services in Simcoe County.
- Revenue diversification and fundraising experience.
Generally, we are looking for community individuals with the following qualities:
- Commitment to and understanding of ILS’s mission and strategic directions
- Knowledge of meeting procedures, governance policies and the general function of a governance board supporting a not-for-profit agency
- The personal commitment to devote the time necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of a member of the ILS Board of Directors
Time Commitment:
The Board of Directors will hold regular board meetings not less than six times a year, at least once per quarter plus the AGM in September. Additional committee meetings are held throughout the year. The meetings are held in the early evenings virtually. The term of service for ILS board members is 3 years.
